  • Respect privacy and persons confidentiality
  • Behave appropriate to the persons age, gender and culture

DON’Ts

  • Don’t exploit your relationship
  • Don’t ask for any favours in return
  • Don’t make false promises or raise expectations
  • Don’t exaggerate your skills
  • Don’t force help on people, be intrusive or pushy
  • Don’t pressure people into telling their story
  • Don’t share their story with others
  • Don’t judge the person for their feelings or actions
